Hice votos a la regla de la vida, el viaje y la tarea de este llamado m\u00edo. Afirm\u00e9 mis creencias y di un paso adelante en la fe en una \u00e9poca sin precedentes en la historia de nuestra denominaci\u00f3n desde antes de la Guerra Civil estadounidense. El espectro del cisma y la separaci\u00f3n se cern\u00eda con fuerza. Sin embargo, ten\u00eda la seguridad de la gracia de Dios y la esperanza de que algo nuevo iba a nacer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Muchos dicen que nuestra denominaci\u00f3n ya ha entrado en cisma y tal vez sea as\u00ed. Pero es la misma Iglesia a la que Dios me llam\u00f3, me salv\u00f3 y me am\u00f3 cuando me sent\u00eda poco amable. Me ense\u00f1\u00f3 la gracia y el amor de Dios que reinaban en este mundo, incluso frente al pecado, el quebrantamiento y el dolor. Sigue siendo el lugar donde he sido amado y ense\u00f1ado por pastores y amigos como Gail Gaddie, John Bonson, Randy Cooper, Amanda Crice, Autura Eason-Williams, Joey Reed, y Joe Geary por nombrar algunos.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A medida que las Congregaciones Locales voten por irse o quedarse, muchos cl\u00e9rigos tambi\u00e9n har\u00e1n lo mismo. Mi vocaci\u00f3n sigue siendo la Iglesia Metodista Unida, su doctrina, su disciplina y sus queridas congregaciones. Creo que parte de esos mismos votos de ordenaci\u00f3n que he tomado es defender la unidad de la Iglesia, y por lo tanto no puedo ni quiero nunca apoyar o abogar por la separaci\u00f3n de ning\u00fan tipo. Creo que eso sigue siendo coherente con las Escrituras, y con la llamada que Jes\u00fas hace a Su Cuerpo (la Iglesia en general), \"para que sean Uno\".\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Una de las cosas m\u00e1s dolorosas que he encontrado en esta temporada es cuando los individuos no pueden ver a aquel con quien est\u00e1n en desacuerdo como honestamente <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">esforz\u00e1ndonos por ser fieles.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Yo mismo he luchado con esta tarea, pero si estamos dispuestos a hacerlo, encarnaremos la misma gracia que Dios nos ha dado. Tengo amigos e incluso miembros de mi propia familia que se ir\u00e1n o ya se han ido a otras denominaciones. Creo que est\u00e1n intentando seguir a Jes\u00fas, y espero y rezo para que ellos tambi\u00e9n me vean bajo esa luz.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nosotros, como Metodistas Unidos, en nuestras congregaciones hemos mantenido unidas durante mucho tiempo a personas que no est\u00e1n de acuerdo en esta conversaci\u00f3n (por no hablar de muchas otras), as\u00ed que \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 \u00edbamos a buscar c\u00e1maras de eco? \u00bfC\u00f3mo nos ver\u00e1n nuestros hermanos LGBTQ, c\u00f3mo nos ver\u00e1n sus padres o familiares? \u00bfSeguiremos siendo el lugar acogedor donde deseamos que todos puedan pertenecer y encontrar a Jes\u00fas? \u00bfO elegiremos el camino f\u00e1cil, dejar de lado a los que no est\u00e1n de acuerdo con nosotros? \u00bfNos dividiremos como el mundo pol\u00edtico que nos rodea? \u00bfO proclamaremos un camino m\u00e1s excelente de unidad sin uniformidad? Os imploro que no ve\u00e1is a aquellos con los que no est\u00e1is de acuerdo como malos o infieles. V\u00e9anse unos a otros como Hijos de Dios, salvados por la muerte en la Cruz y la Resurrecci\u00f3n de Jesucristo... IGUAL QUE USTEDES. Esto, la autoridad de las Escrituras, los credos de la Iglesia, y la sacralidad de cada ser humano deben ser vistos como cosas que nos unen en lugar de dividirnos. Tal vez si tomamos un camino de humildad y empat\u00eda en lugar de arrogancia y justicia propia, podemos encontrar nuestro testimonio fortalecido por esto especialmente en nuestra comunidad. Todos tratamos de ser fieles, lo mejor que sabemos, y sigo creyendo que Dios ver\u00e1 ese esfuerzo por ser fieles como fidelidad real. Esto es lo mejor de la Iglesia Metodista Unida, la Iglesia Metodista Unida en la que creo, y por eso permanecer\u00e9 en la Iglesia Metodista Unida.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Os dejo con esta oraci\u00f3n de Thomas Merton:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dios m\u00edo, no tengo ni idea de ad\u00f3nde voy. No veo el camino que me espera. Tampoco me conozco a m\u00ed mismo, y el hecho de que crea que estoy siguiendo tu voluntad no significa que lo est\u00e9 haciendo. Pero creo que el deseo de complacerte te complace de hecho. Y espero tener ese deseo en todo lo que hago. Espero no hacer nunca nada fuera de ese deseo. Y s\u00e9 que si lo hago, t\u00fa me guiar\u00e1s por el buen camino, aunque yo no sepa nada de \u00e9l. Por eso confiar\u00e9 siempre en ti, aunque parezca que estoy perdido y en la sombra de la muerte.
