Dr. Peters. \"Aunque era peque\u00f1o, ten\u00edamos espacio suficiente para celebrar cultos y organizar actividades para nuestros j\u00f3venes\".<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Posteriormente, en 1996, la congregaci\u00f3n se traslad\u00f3 al edificio de la iglesia situado en 2001 Manchester Ave. en el barrio de Bordeaux de North Nashville, la antigua sede de Bordeaux UMC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"Por aquel entonces, despu\u00e9s de trasladarnos a Manchester Avenue, cont\u00e1bamos con unos 30 miembros\", explica el reverendo Dr. Peters. \"No \u00e9ramos una congregaci\u00f3n grande, pero particip\u00e1bamos activamente en la comunidad, sobre todo con nuestros vecinos sin vivienda\".<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En 2008, la congregaci\u00f3n celebr\u00f3 su vig\u00e9simo aniversario iniciando una campa\u00f1a de financiaci\u00f3n de capital para renovar el edificio de la iglesia y crear un Centro de Vida Cristiana. Sin embargo, debido a los cambios demogr\u00e1ficos en el barrio, el aburguesamiento y la rotaci\u00f3n de l\u00edderes, el crecimiento de la congregaci\u00f3n empez\u00f3 a estancarse y a decaer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Como subraya la reverenda Sonnye Dixon, pastora principal de Hobson UMC y miembro de la Junta Directiva fundadora de Ernest Newman UMC, la congregaci\u00f3n Ernest Newman UMC se enfrent\u00f3 a importantes retos desde sus inicios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"Desde el principio, la iglesia carec\u00eda de recursos suficientes, lo que dificultaba su crecimiento constante y la creaci\u00f3n de un espacio en la comunidad\", afirma el reverendo Dixon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ernest Newman UMC cerr\u00f3 oficialmente en 2017, casi 30 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de su fundaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aunque el edificio de la iglesia y la casa parroquial asociados con Ernest Newman UMC est\u00e1n siendo retirados, la Conferencia TWK est\u00e1 lejos de haber terminado con este sitio.
