El martes 10 de febrero, m\u00e1s de 160 metodistas unidos de todo Tennessee se reunieron en el edificio de oficinas legislativas Cordell Hull con valent\u00eda, claridad y convicci\u00f3n. Juntos, nos reunimos con m\u00e1s de 60 legisladores, republicanos y dem\u00f3cratas, nuevas voces y l\u00edderes experimentados, compartiendo historias, planteando inquietudes y basando todas las conversaciones en la dignidad, la justicia y el bien com\u00fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lo que marc\u00f3 la diferencia no fue el volumen, el desempe\u00f1o o la postura, sino la presencia, la preparaci\u00f3n y la curiosidad. Los participantes llegaron dispuestos tanto a escuchar como a hablar, a tender puentes en lugar de quemarlos, y a recordar a nuestros funcionarios electos que las comunidades religiosas est\u00e1n prestando atenci\u00f3n, no desde un segundo plano, sino desde el coraz\u00f3n de la vida p\u00fablica. Y eso fue importante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gracias a esas reuniones, ahora se est\u00e1n examinando m\u00e1s detenidamente leyes perjudiciales que se hab\u00edan estado impulsando discretamente, y los proyectos de ley que reflejan nuestros compromisos compartidos con la compasi\u00f3n, la transparencia y el desarrollo humano han ganado nueva atenci\u00f3n y, en algunos casos, un nuevo impulso. Los legisladores nos dijeron que apreciaban el di\u00e1logo respetuoso y reflexivo. Varios solicitaron que continu\u00e1ramos colaborando. Se abrieron puertas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gracias a todos los que asistieron, alzaron la voz y se manifestaron. Ayer fue una prueba de lo que se puede lograr cuando actuamos juntos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
