It is most certainly the case that even though Christ can get along just fine without money, it turns out that the church cannot! Our churches and other religious institutions depend on the voluntary financial support of members and affiliates. Increasingly, clergy must show leadership in this area of endeavor. However, many of us do not feel well equipped to do the work. Often, we shy away from asking for financial support. Perhaps we may even see it as not a part of our call or not particularly religious in nature.

Faithful Fundraising is a three-session course designed to prepare clergy to become more confident in this important work of ministry. Utilizing Henry Nouwen’s A Spirituality of Fundraising, we will have a conversation about how we might faithfully help others grow in their generosity and find greater joy in giving.

The hour-long class will be conducted by way of Zoom on three Wednesdays (September 14, 21, and 28) at 1:30 pm and will be limited to 15.

Nouwen’s book will be provided for all participants by the United Methodist Foundation for the Tennessee/Western Kentucky Annual Conference. For further information or to register, please contact Phil Jamieson at phil.jamieson@umfmtc.org.
