Join Scarritt Bennett Center, Steal Away Women, and the Health and Wellness Initiatives Committee of The Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference of The United Methodist Church for the “Holiday Blues and Jazz: Worship Service and Mental Health Resources Event.”

Typically, the holiday season is a time for joy and being with family and friends. However, for many, the holiday season may not be “the most wonderful time of the year.” Instead of being joyful, some experience increased stress, loneliness, depression, or anxiety.

The “Holiday Blues and Jazz: Worship Service and Mental Health Resources Event” provides a time of worship that recognizes the struggles many people face this season, offering our community a means to tend to your soul during the holidays.

The service will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. It will include the inspiring and uplifting words of Spoken Word Artist Michael Diallo McLendon, blues and jazz music provided by musicians Kevin Madill, Connye Florance, and Kim McLean. In addition, Rev. Linda Furtado will bring her gift as a Sketch Artist to capture the visual worship experience through drawings displayed during the worship service.

Area agencies and organizations will be available from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to provide resources for mental health and substance abuse. In addition, each guest will receive a gift.
