LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. — Registration is now open for Lake Junaluska’s four two-night Marriage Enrichment Retreats in 2022, with the first coming up March 18-20.

Social distancing will be practiced and masks required at these Christian marriage retreats designed to help couples strengthen their relationships through guided, meaningful conversation.

Ned Martin, a licensed clinical mental health counselor who also holds a Master of Divinity degree, will lead the retreats to be held March 18-20, May 4-6, August 12-14 and September 7-9.

“There is real value in taking time, going on retreat, having no distractions and being able to focus solely on that person to whom you’ve committed your life,” said Martin.

By using emotionally focused therapy for couples, Martin will help participants better understand the psychology of successful relationships and guide them through a series of conversations to help them draw closer to God and each other.

“Lake Junaluska is ideal for this sort of retreat,” said Martin. “Lake Junaluska provides a beautiful setting to come and be apart from the daily stresses, to be in an environment that encourages people to get out, to take a walk, to sit in a quiet place and have one of those deeper conversations.”

Couples who simply wish to grow closer or are experiencing marital stress can benefit, and pastoral participants can earn 1.5 continuing-education units for participation in the program.

Marriage Enrichment Retreats for each couple combined are $836, which includes the program, two nights of lodging at Lake Junaluska, five meals and access to Lake Junaluska’s recreational amenities.
