Mental Health Care benefits for clergy and families will be administered differently beginning in 2023.  Instead of benefits being paid by the Conference, beginning in January 2023, benefits will be accessed through the EAP through Wespath or Methodist Healthcare. It is important to determine if your current provider is covered by our EAP providers or health insurance.  Please take note so that changes can be made before the new year begins.
Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) are employer-provided plans covering a variety of support services around emotional well-being. Through our EAP programs, you will be able to receive confidential counseling and support to help manage challenges in your personal or professional life that may impact your work, family, and ministry. This benefit is available to all members of your household.

For clergy participating in the Conference health benefit through Wespath, the EAP offers 8 sessions per member of the household, per issue, per year. Participants can choose from a list of in-network providers or access an online therapist through Talkspace. To access services, call 1-866-881-6800. A consultant is available around the clock. For support with substance use, call the anonymous helpline at 1-855-780-5955.

For clergy not participating in the Conference health benefit through Wespath, we offer access to Methodist Healthcare EAP. This plan covers individuals under appointment who have waived healthcare coverage, those who are not eligible for health benefits, those appointed to ministries beyond the local church, and retirees.  Participants can choose from a list of in-network providers or access an online therapist. To access services, call 800-880-5658.

Both plans cover the appointed/clergy individual and members of their household.
If you find that your needs exceed what is covered by our EAP programs and health insurance, please reach out to your District Superintendent or the Board of Ordained Ministry through the Equip Staff.
