Childcare Worker

Main Functions:
The Childcare Worker is responsible for providing quality childcare for the individual needs of children in the nursery or childcare setting. This position should work with the Director of Children’s Ministries to create a safe and nurturing environment for the young children of Rehoboth to experience Christ and come to know God’s love.

Hours: 4 hours weekly on Sunday, plus other special services and functions.

Reports To: Director of Children’s Ministries, SPRT

Duties include the following but are not limited to:
Encourage social and emotional development of children through the curriculum provided, crafts, story times, music, imaginative play, etc.
Provide childcare for worship and other church-related occasions as directed by the Director of Children’s Ministries. This includes Holy Week, Christmas Eve and any additional special services
Communicate well with children, parents, colleagues and director of childcare ministries to ensure that children’s needs are understood and met
Maintain regular communications with the director of childcare ministries
Greet all children and visiting parents and create a warm and friendly environment
Ensure each child is signed in and out
Build and establish relationships with children and parents
Help direct nursery volunteers
Maintain Information forms on all children and know the special needs of each child
Keep a weekly record of attendance of the children in the nursery
Sanitize all tables, toys, changing tables and/or pads daily as specified in the Nursery Guidelines
Keep children safe. Notify director of childcare ministries of any potential hazards in the room
Cover any emergency time off needed by finding another childcare worker to cover or switch hours and notify the director of childcare ministries
Request in writing at least two weeks in advance for any time off needed
Successfully complete annual trainings for Safe Sanctuaries and first aid including CPR
Maintain compliance with our Safe Sanctuaries policy
Interest in care and development of young children, awareness of their needs

The Childcare Worker, along with all employees of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, is expected to (1) live a lifestyle that brings honor to Christ and Church, (2) fully affirm United Methodist theology and policy as outlined in the United Methodist Book of Discipline and (3) participate as a team player with the rest of the church staff.
