Position Status: Part-time; Approximate 20 – 25 hours per week
Salary: $20,000.00 – $30,000.00 based on experience, education, and ordination status
Job Summary: Responsible for Children’s and Youth Ministries

Accountability:
● Pray for staff and families of SFUMC
● Cooperate fully with Senior Pastor and church leaders for the good of the church
● Work closely with relevant ministry teams: Church Council, Children’s and Youth Ministry Team, Preschool Board
● Attend staff meetings in accordance with the direction of the Senior Pastor
● Communicate regularly with the Senior Pastor, relevant ministry teams, and congregation on ministry plans and policies
● Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to work in other ministry areas as needed
● Maintain regular office hours and times of availability to the congregation 1–2 days/week
● Support the vision and mission of SFUMC
● Comply with SFUMC’s Safe Sanctuary policies
Specific Qualifications:
● Specific skills in administration, communication, training, volunteer recruitment, and organization
● Prefer specialization and experience in children and/or youth ministry,
● Ideal candidate is licensed, commissioned, or ordained in the United Methodist Church
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Recruit volunteers for children’s and youth ministries
● Recruit and screen all volunteer staff utilizing the guidelines of the Safe Sanctuary policy
● Teach, train, and equip all volunteer staff for children’s and youth ministry
● Plan, develop, and provide resources for volunteers for Christian Education for children and youth, including
○ Children’s and Youth Sunday School classes
○ Children’s Moments during worship time
○ Nursery
○ Youth Bible studies
○ Lead youth activities including Sunday night programming and other youth events
○ Maintain regular communication with youth and parents using text messages, newsletter, social media, e-mails, flyers, announcements, etc.
● Participate in outreach ministry to the youth of the church, both those who regularly participate in youth activities and those who don’t, and including youth visitors for worship.
● Oversee planning meetings with youth and adult/parent volunteers
● Oversee other special spiritual formation and education experiences such as confirmation, retreats, or mission and outreach experiences
● Coordinate and supervise special programs or events throughout the year for children and youth such as:
○ Vacation Bible School
○ Easter Egg Hunt
○ Fall Festival or Trunk or Treat
○ Breakfast in Bethlehem
● Plan and coordinate special fundraisers as needed
● Prepare a proposed annual Children’s and Youth Ministry budget and manage expenses according to the approved church budget for children’s and youth ministries.
● Maintain contact with Scout troop and encourage the congregation’s involvement in scout programs and activities
● Serve as a liaison to Project Transformation interns, children, and families for our summer day camp ministry
● Assist with other pastoral duties as needed under the direction of the Senior Pastor
