Job Description

Overview:

The Coordinator of Children & Family Ministry serves part-time to assist the church in accomplishing its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The Coordinator of Children & Family Ministry ensures that Spring Hill UMC ministry to children and families is coordinated, aligned with scripture and executed with excellence.

Spiritual:
1. Must be growing as a Christian maturing in his/her relationship with Jesus and comfortable modeling this to others.
2. A desire to see all children come to know, love and follow Jesus Christ
3. A desire to equip and encourage families as the primary spiritual leaders of their children within the SHUMC congregation
4. Aspirations to grow and enhance our present and future church community
5. Embrace Christian discipline and uphold the authority of scripture and teachings of Jesus Christ

Personal:

2. A passion to create and foster an overwhelming culture of belonging for all
3. A willingness to engage in the community in which SHUMC exists. Supports SHUMC by prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness apart from job tasks
4. Willingness to work toward a Bachelor’s degree and/or other certification related to Christian education of children
5. Fluency in Spanish is a bonus

1. Ability to support and offer pastoral care to kids and adults
2. Self-starting visionary and strategic thinker with regards to ministry needs
3. Teachable team player with strong demonstrated oral and written communication skills, creativity and self-starter abilities
4. Proven ability to delegate and equip congregation for ministry
5. Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects with multiple people
6. Possess prior experience leading children

Desired Skills (SHUMC may provide education/training):

1. Proven conflict management skills
2. Computer/technology skills for organizing, promoting, budgeting and communicating to include social media platforms

Responsibilities:

1. Develop the Children & Family Ministry programs of the church to ensure effectiveness in promoting the mission and vision of SHUMC
2. Recruit, train and supervise a volunteer team
3. Facilitate opportunities for families to grow in faith together
4. Coordinate outreach efforts to invite and welcome new children and their families
5. Advocate for Children & Family Ministries in the whole ministry of the church

Terms of Employment:
1. Position requires flexible hours including evenings and weekends: Number of hours each week will be 20 hours not to exceed 24 hours per week. Sundays are required and other days will be agreed upon with the pastor and Staff Parrish Relations Committee (SPRC)
2. Position is Part time, (Rate Range $20-$22 per hour based on experience)
3. Position reports to the pastor for day-to-day operations but ultimately reports to the SPRC for goals, evaluations and concerns related to the church and/or job
4. Applicant must participate in a criminal background check, drug test and completion of Safe Sanctuary Training

6. Valid driver’s license
