Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position: Full-time, exempt, 30-35 hours per week, Mondays and Wednesdays in office, remaining hours can be remote with approval

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Music Ministry who is passionate about music that leads people to experience the love and care of God. This person must find joy in leading and teaching others. They must be creative, cognizant of the congregant’s connection to the liturgy, and enthusiastic about collaborating with other leaders to create inspiring and meaningful worship.

Requirements:
Strong commitment to and knowledge of Christian principles and teachings
Bachelor’s Degree in Music (minimum)
Experience as a church music director, musician or other music-related position (3-5 years preferred)
Technical proficiency in piano, handbell, and vocal performance
Proficient in Piano and experience conducting choirs of various experience levels
Knowledge of and willingness to utilize both traditional and contemporary anthems
Proficient in, but not limited to, general use of technology and software programs like Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills and professionalism
A Self-starter with strong organizational skills
A commitment both to continuing personal development and self-care, and maintaining wholeness as a person

Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive music program including chancel choir, bell choir, children’s choir
Meet weekly with the program staff to collaborate in planning for Sunday worship services
Select and arrange service music: prelude, choral anthems, hymns, postlude, and other musical offerings
Direct and accompany rehearsals for chancel choir, bell choir, children’s choir
Recruit, attract, and utilize church volunteers, local musicians, instrumentalists and vocalists
Form relationships and network with Nashville musicians
Prepare music for special services: Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter, Christmas, Church Music Sunday, Lessons and Carols
Review, select, and oversee the purchase of new music appropriate for worship in accordance with each choir
Organize and maintain a music library
Lead music for Vacation Bible School
Minister to the spiritual needs of choir members
Create slides for virtual worship and relate worship needs to the virtual ministry team
Knowledge of sound system setup and quality
Develop and oversee annual budget for music program with the help of the Business Administrator
Arrange for a substitute director to be present for vacation time
Develop guidelines for wedding music and meet with couples to select music, including soloists and instrumentalists when applicable
Play for weddings and funerals
Coordinate publisher’s permission for the use of copyrighted materials
Maintain copyright licensing for all printed music, projected lyrics, sounds recordings, and videos used in rehearsal and worship
Arrange for repair and maintenance of musical instruments
Keep informed of current music methods, materials, technology, and administration
Submit a monthly report to the Church Council
Attend Church Council meetings or other committee meetings as requested
Lead the Worship Committee. Organize volunteers to assist with communion. Acquire lay liturgists or other volunteers needed for worship.
Relate to the Altar Guild. Work with the chair to ensure flower arrangements and dedications are scheduled
Perform other necessary work as may be assigned
