-The accompanist is a position of Christian Ministry that assists in fulfilling the church’s vision of worship and ministry by contributing to a meaningful and high-quality music program. The accompanist works in a collaborative way with other members of the staff, particularly the Pastor and Director of Music Ministry. The position reports to the Director of Music Ministry.

-Collaborates with Director of Music Ministry to select and provide appropriate sacred music for worship (i.e., prelude, offertory, postlude, anthem, congregational hymns) and accompanies all regularly scheduled worship services. Titles of music are provided to the Administrative Assistant and Director of Music Ministry for the worship bulletin.
-Prepares sacred music and accompanies additional services such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter and other added services of worship as may be deemed appropriate by the Pastor.
-Accompanies the Choir’s weekly rehearsal (1-1½ hours) under the direction of the Director of Music Ministry.
-Provides piano music for wedding and funeral services held in the church with additional compensation, paid by family. When an organist/accompanist is requested, he or she will have the right of first refusal for playing in consultation with the Pastor.
-Rehearses solo music or small vocal and instrumentalists as needed prior to worship on Sunday mornings.

-Training and mastery of piano playing traditional sacred music, choral anthems, four part congregational hymns, and contemporary selections.
-Organ training is a desirable skill but not required.
-Ability to work harmoniously with others in presenting music as a part of worship.
-Successful prior experience as a church accompanist is highly desirable.
-Professional references and examples or recordings of musical performance will be requested.

Job Type: Part-time, approximately 8 hours per week (Choir rehearsal, Sunday service, and private practice time).
Pay: $160 a week

-The work week shall include all Sunday and special worship services, regular choir rehearsal (weekday evening and/or Sunday morning), other special rehearsals as needed and preparation time. The timing of weeks off shall be planned in consultation with the Director of Music Ministry so that substitutes can be secured.
-A background check and any other job-related paperwork required by the Staff Pastor-Parish Relations Committee of Camden First United Methodist Church is required prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
-The Safe Sanctuary Policy shall be followed in all matters relating to children and youth. ALL employees are expected to be Safe Sanctuary Certified.
-Wages are paid twice a month.
-The wage is set for the following fiscal year (January1-December 31) through the Staff Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.
