Leveraging our connection and loving our neighbors

October 29, 2025 – As we prepare for a potential pause in SNAP benefits, we anticipate a significant increase in food insecurity across our communities. As people of faith, we know our calling is clear: to feed, to welcome, to care. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25, “For I was hungry and you gave me food…” — an invitation to love our neighbors in real and tangible ways.

Across the TWK Conference, congregations are already faithfully feeding their communities through food pantries, meal ministries, and partnerships that reflect Christ’s love.

To better support and connect this important work in our connection, we are gathering information about local food ministries in every district. If your congregation offers food assistance and we have not heard from you yet, please take a moment to complete this brief survey so we can share accurate, up-to-date information: TWK Food Ministries Survey

For individuals or congregations looking for ways to serve, we invite you to explore and support the food ministries already active in your area: TWK Food Ministries List.

God has already been at work, congregations across our connection have already been providing food to our neighbors, and we, members of the TWK, have the opportunity to join together in fulfilling our call.  Together — grounded in grace and strengthened by our connection — we are ready to respond with generosity, hope, and deep love for our neighbors.

Here are three ways we can respond:

Apoye a los Ministerios de Alimentación locales 

1. Check what specific food needs they have and set up a targeted collection. 
2. Donate money so food ministries can update their supply as needed.

Voluntario

Support local Food Ministries and Food Distribution Organizations

3. Contact your local schools or school systems and ask if there are ways that you can join in their efforts to meet the needs of students who may be experiencing food insecurity.
