Position/Title: Nursery Worker
Supervisor /Reporting Relationship: Reports to pastor
Position Status: Part-time
Sunday mornings 8:15-12:15 or until all children depart.
Other meetings or special services or occasions as assigned by the pastor.
Job Summary: Provides for the physical, emotional, and intellectual stimulation
and safety of children ages 0-4 years while working in the church nursery.
Cualificaciones generales:
• Be of good moral and Christian character.
• Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
• Exhibit a gentle demeanor and tone of voice with children.
• Stability of physical, mental, and emotional health.
• Knowledge of age appropriate needs for children 0-4 years.
• Willingness to submit to background checks.
• Absences will be communicated in advance to pastor.
Requisitos de formación:
• Support the staff and families of SFUMC.
• Cooperate fully with pastor and church leaders for the good of the
iglesia.
• Work closely with relevant ministry teams such as the children’s and
youth committee.
• Communicate regularly with the pastor, relevant ministry team(s), and
parents and volunteers.
• Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to work as needed.
• Maintain regular scheduled nursery hours.
• At the end of each pay period, turn in a completed time sheet to the
financial office drop box.
• Support the vision and mission of SFUMC.
• Comply with SFUMC’s Safe Sanctuary policies.
• Accountable to pastor and Leadership Board/SPRC.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 18 years of age or older.
• Works together with additional nursery worker(s) to provide a safe and
healthy environment.
• Keeps nursery area and toys safe, clean and disinfected. It is expected that
nursery cleaning and disinfecting will be done during regularly paid nursery
hours.
• Maintains vital records of all children attending the nursery, including
sign-in sheets with parent/guardian contact info and other information
forms for children, including information about allergies, dietary restrictions,
and other special needs.
• Changes diapers in timely manner and maintains good hand washing/hand
hygiene after diaper changes and after assisting children with coughs,
sneezes, or runny noses.
• Wears latex free gloves during diaper changes and disinfects diaper
changing area after changes.
• Communicates need for supplies as needed to office manager and children’s
and youth committee chair.
• Label sippy cups with child’s name and ensure that children drink from their
own cups.
• Conducts a lesson for toddlers during Sunday School (10:00-10:45) with
materials provided by the pastor.
• Ensures safety of nursery environment, i.e. cleaning products and
medications stored out of reach, outlet covers on electrical outlets, etc.
• At the end of each pay period, nursery workers turn in a completed time
sheet to the financial office drop box. For church activities other than Sunday
mornings, nursery workers will be paid a minimum of 1-1/2 hours.
• Nursery workers will arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled services and
activities and stay until all children have been picked up and area is cleaned
and organized.

Cualificaciones específicas:
• Specific skills in infant and toddler safety and care.
• Pass a background check.
• Prefer background and experience in childcare.
• Special training in First Aid and CPR for children or willingness to receive training.
