Recognizing immigration as an urgent justice issue, the CORR Action Fund committee has identified this as an area of immediate need and is sponsoring a summit to resource annual conferences. The training will provide participants with essential skills in Know Your Rights education, Basic Community Organizing, and Spokesperson Training, as well as theological reflections on land, immigration, and race. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to network with leaders across jurisdictions and general agencies engaged in immigration justice work.
Bishops were granted two funded spaces for this training event, and the TWK Hispanic Latino Ministries Committee stepped up to fund a few more.
The following five people plan to represent the TWKUMC at the training in late April, and will return ready to train clergy and laity across the TWK.
Pastora Myriam Cortes – Red River District
Pastor Goyo de le Cruz – Metro District
Pastor Fabian Valtierra – Caney Fork District
Rev. John Purdue – Purchase District
Rev. Stacey Harwell-Dye – Cumberland River District
