Receptionist / Administrative Assistant (Part-Time / Interim)

The Interim Receptionist / Administrative Assistant provides front office support to the  Pastor and church leadership and serves as the primary point of contact for visitors and  callers. The position supports the general administrative operations of the church in a  professional, organized, and responsive manner. This role also supports the mission  and ministry of the church and is expected to interact with members, visitors, and the  community in a manner consistent with the church’s values. 

Work Schedule   

  • Monday through Thursday   
  • 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM (which includes a 30 minute—non paid—break)  • Approximately 22 hours per week

  • Administrative Support 

Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and telephone inquiries in a  welcoming and professional manner   

Prepare weekly Sunday worship bulletin   

Prepare reports and documents as requested by the Pastor and committee  chairpersons   

Maintain office records, files, and documentation   

Notify committee members of meetings and church activities   

  • Office Operations 

Maintain general office organization and supplies   

Assist with communication of church-wide activities and announcements   Coordinate routine office operations and administrative tasks   

The position may also provide limited administrative support for routine financial  processes, including assisting with documentation, coordination, and basic  record keeping, as directed by church leadership   

Compensation and Employment Classification 

  • Hourly position, as approved by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)   • This position is classified as a W-2 employee   
  • The Church will withhold and remit required Social Security and Medicare taxes in  accordance with applicable law   

Paid Time Off

  • Vacation 

Employees are eligible for 20 hours of paid vacation per year after completing  one (1) year of service   

Vacation is prorated for partial years of employment, including the first year after  eligibility and the final year of employment, based on the employee’s length of  service during the applicable year   

Vacation may be taken in increments consistent with scheduled work hours   Unused vacation may be carried forward for up to one (1) year; any unused  vacation beyond that period will be forfeited   

Unused vacation time is not paid out upon separation of employment   • Sick Leave   

Employees will accrue 20 hours of paid sick leave per year   

Sick leave accrues at a rate of 1.67 hours per month, beginning on the  employee’s start date   

Sick leave may be used after 90 days of employment   

Sick leave may be used in increments consistent with scheduled work hours   Sick leave may be used for the employee’s illness, medical appointments, or  other health-related needs   

Unused sick leave may be carried forward from year to year, up to a maximum  balance of 40 hours   

Unused sick leave is not paid out upon separation of employment   • Holidays   

 The church office will be closed on the following holidays: 

New Year’s Day   

Memorial Day   

Independence Day   

Labor Day   

Thanksgiving Day   

Christmas Day   

 If a holiday falls on a weekend, it will be observed on the following Monday.
