At Germantown UMC, we believe kids are not just the church of tomorrow, they are a vital, Spirit-filled part of the church today. We’re not looking for someone to keep them entertained. We’re looking for someone to walk with them, laugh with them, wonder with them, and help them discover the God who loves them beyond measure.

We’re seeking a Children’s Ministry Director who understands that spiritual formation begins in childhood, and who approaches that calling with joy, reverence, and a little bit of silly string. Someone who can hold space for big feelings, bring calm to the chaos, and turn even the messiest craft into a sacred moment of connection.

You’ll lead a ministry that serves ages birth – 5th grade each week, alongside a nursery team, dedicated volunteers, and a church family that deeply values its children. Your mission? To create a safe, joy-filled environment where kids learn they are loved by God and belong in the body of Christ, and to walk alongside parents as partners in that journey.

What You’ll Do
• Lead our Children’s Ministry vision, not just as a program, but as a sacred space of spiritual formation and belonging for kids and their families.
• Partner with parents to support faith at home and build lasting relationships of trust, care, and encouragement.
• Oversee and shepherd weekly programming for ages birth – 5th grade, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and special events.
• Create a safe, welcoming, joy-filled environment where kids can wonder about God, ask questions, learn Scripture, and feel at home in church.
• Recruit, train, and nurture volunteers, equipping them to show up fully and faithfully for the kids in their care.
• Design and/or select Bible-centered curriculum that respects the intelligence and emotional depth of children and communicates big ideas in age-appropriate ways.
• Plan and coordinate special events like VBS, service opportunities, family worship nights, and seasonal celebrations.
• Lead a team of nursery workers and volunteers with warmth, clarity, and a spirit of shared purpose.
• Work alongside clergy and church staff to integrate children into the life of the whole church, ensuring they are seen, known, and included.

Who You Are
• A joyful, Jesus-loving leader who sees kids as full participants in the life of faith.
• Passionate about helping children build a lifelong relationship with God.
• Naturally playful and patient, someone who brings calm and curiosity to chaos.
• Emotionally present, able to meet kids where they are (especially on hard days).
• A gifted communicator who can translate theological concepts into meaningful, bite-sized lessons for growing minds.
• Invested in parents as your ministry partners, not spectators.
• A lifelong learner of Scripture who delights in exploring it with children.
• Excited to create community, not just content.

자격
• Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education, Child Development, Ministry, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience teaching or leading in children’s Christian education, elementary education, or childcare.
• Experience planning and managing events, curriculum, volunteers, and multi-age group environments.
• Solid understanding of child development and children’s spiritual formation (including those with special needs).
• Strong alignment with United Methodist theology and beliefs.
• Organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and team-minded.
• Emotionally and spiritually grounded, with the maturity to lead with love, grace, and humility.
• Basic physical fitness: able to lift 40 lbs, move quickly with toddlers, and stay energized through an active workday.

This Role is for You If…
• You want to help a child feel God’s love in the pit of their stomach.
• You believe that spiritual growth can happen through giggles, questions, snack time, and story.
• You know the church should be a place where kids are seen and known, not just watched.
• You see families as your teammates.
• And you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and get messy for the sake of the Gospel.
