The TWK LGBTQ+ Inclusion Team launched last week with their inaugural meeting. Co-led by both a clergy person and layperson, Rev. Timothy Holton and Izzie Zimmerman, this team was created by a resolution passed at the 2025 Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference.
The team’s work seeks to
1) actively support the LGBTQ+ laity, clergy, and candidates for licensed/ordained ministry,
2) amplify the voices and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community,
3) monitor annual conference committees and policies to ensure justice and equity on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression, and
4) equip local churches for meaningful ministry with, for, and by LGBTQ+ church members, clergy, and the larger community.
