Our main campus sits on 105 acres in the heart of Franklin and serves our community through donating over 20,000 pounds of produce annually through our Giving Garden, providing overnight stays for the homeless, and even hosting a monthly songwriters event. We are committed to making our little corner in Williamson County look as much like the kingdom of heaven as we can. We are currently searching for a part time Accounting Associate.

Job Title: Accounting Associate

Classification:  Non-exempt

Hours: Part-time position working 12+ hours a week; flexible weekday schedule

Reports to: Church Controller

Job Summary & Description: The Accounting Associate serves as the Church’s financial secretary.  This position is responsible for administering the monetary receipts and reporting processes for the Finance Department and church.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and work with volunteers on Monday morning count of deposit and take cash deposit to the bank.
  • Scan offering checks, correctly post to individual contribution records and then record deposit in accounting software.
  • Download and format various online giving transactions.  Post to individual contribution records and accounting software. Maintain Fund listing and serve as Finance liaison in troubleshooting various giving systems.
  • Monitor stock transfers and post to contribution records and accounting software as received.
  • Administer and process bimonthly ACH contributions with the bank as well as post to individual contribution records and accounting software.
  • Work with both internal and external clients to maintain petty cash and help answer questions or needs that may arise regarding donations.
  • Work with ministry areas to ensure scheduled communion and special offering accounts are active at appropriate times.
  • Responsible for monthly contribution reporting to various internal clients.
  • Track pledged and unpledged gifts and number of pledges received each year.
  • Serve as administrator for financial module of two donor databases (Church Community Builder and Pushpay) as well as check scan software (ProfitStars).
  • Research and prepare appropriate external grant requests from business and governmental agencies.
  • Order and schedule mailed offering envelopes, stock sanctuaries with offering envelopes and distribute quarterly giving statements.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of all supplies needed to complete responsibilities, including statement envelopes, deposit slips, giving envelopes and deposit bags.
  • Assist in providing information during annual audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required
  • Prefer two years of college in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Organized and able to handle frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to schedule tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (specifically Outlook and Excel) and QuickBooks Online preferred.
  • Experience with Pushpay, Church Community Builder, and check scanning software preferred.
