UMCOR Relief Supplies Are Needed

TWK and UMCOR disaster response volunteers and staff are reporting significant damage to homes in the western part of our conference. We are asking churches and individuals to please begin preparing UMCOR Cleaning Kits to assist survivors with clean up. Hygiene kits also are in short supply.

Locations for drop-off will be able to receive UMCOR relief kits on May 16 and 17 at the times specified. Thank you for your support.

TWK Disaster Recovery staff team member Karastin Hancock reports that across the Purchase District of Western Kentucky, we experienced major flooding. From infrastructure destruction to mudslides in Hickman, KY, our communities are hurting. Some of these areas are still recovering from multiple disasters over the past several years, which only exasperates and prolongs the recovery process. One of the most striking updates I’ve heard is Rev. John Varden’s update on Hickman, KY. “ Hickman is in real trouble,” he said. “As mudslides have impacted Fulton County, our hearts go out to these communities, and we are looking for ways to help folks across our conference. “
