We celebrate all kinds of things in May: Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and graduations. In the UMC we know the third Sunday of May as Heritage Sunday. In 2025, Heritage Sunday falls on May 18th , the Fifth Sunday of Easter, when we celebrate the ongoing impact of the resurrection, and the call to live out a life of faith and love.

How appropriate it is to hear stories of the new life we have in Christ from Methodists this Heritage Sunday. The General Commission on Archives & History has set the theme for Heritage Sunday 2025 as a time of Sacred Stories: Ministries of LGBTQ+ United Methodists. They have assembled some of these sacred stories interviews, a digital exhibit, study & sermon resources, books, and more. Click this here to access these resources.
