Recently, clergy serving in cross-racial and cross-cultural (CRCC) appointments gathered for a transformative retreat at Montgomery Bell Lodge from November 7-9.

Recognizing the vital need for fellowship, rest, and collaboration in their unique ministries, the retreat offered a time of renewal and connection. Led by the chair of the Commission on Religion and Race, Rev. Dr. Erin Beasley, the retreat included spiritual exercises facilitated by Rev. Shelby Slowey, pastor of South End UMC and a co-founder of The Open Door Collective.

Through guided reflections, shared experiences, and meaningful dialogue, participants deepened their sense of community and explored strategies to navigate the complexities of their calling with resilience and grace. This retreat marks the beginning of future efforts by the TWK Commission on Religion and Race to offer ongoing support and resources for clergy serving in these ministry settings.
