General Summary:
- To develop and maintain spiritually based wellness, community building, and recreational ministries for Emmanuel United Methodist Church (EUMC) consistent with the theology and discipline of the United Methodist Church;and to demonstrate ethical and spiritual behavior appropriate to leadership in a United Methodist Church, reporting to the Pastor of Discipleship or succeeding supervisor.
- To fulfill and advance the values, mission, and vision of Emmanuel UMC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inquire about, create, and execute programming for health, wellness, and recreational opportunities for all ages of the church, Emmanuel UMC Kindergarten (EUMK), and the community with a focus on a holistic approach fostering spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Activities may include, but are not limited to, pickleball, basketball, t-ball, volleyball, soccer, exercise, yoga, art, board games, travel events, etc.
- Duties include recruiting and supervising volunteers and leaders needed for the wellness and recreation ministries; acquiring and caring for equipment, registration of participants through electronic or other means, and fee collection (if applicable); and overseeing the maintenance of recreation and wellness facilities and equipment with a focus on safety in cooperation with the Church Administrator and Facilities Supervisor as needed.
- Ensure that volunteers working with children have been trained and adhere, without exception, to the Safer Sanctuary Policy and
- Establish, conduct regular meetings, and maintain a Wellness/Recreation Committee to assist with the various activities required of this position and to meet desired outcomes.
- Represent EUMC at church groups, organizations, leagues or associations pertinent the Wellness and Recreation Ministries of EUMC.
- Initiate, plan, and execute Wednesday night dinners, church-wide fellowship events, special picnics, and other community building events as developed or planned. Including recruiting and supervising volunteers who may help with the activities, meal planning, serving, and cleaning after; coordinating with caterers for ordering and delivering food as needed, or organizing volunteers for the same.
- Facilitate and manage community groups in coordination with the EUMC calendar and the Church Administrator. This shall include identifying needs in the community where use of EUMC facilities may foster connection and help to meet those needs.
- Coordinate all activities and facility use with other program areas of EUMC including but not limited to Children, Youth, Missions, Older Adults, and EUMK.
- Fulfill all other requirements of employment at EUMC as stated in the Employee Handbook and not restated here.
General Expectations of all Emmanuel Employees:
- Establish and maintain a professional and efficient working relationship with all EUMC employees, church members, and other programs and missional areas.
- Prepare and oversee annual program budget in consultation with Business
- Form yearly goals and
- Attend weekly staff
- Attend evening meetings of the Church Council and other missional areas of EUMC as
- Perform all other related duties
The qualified applicant:
- Must be self-motivated.
- Have good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Must work well with others in a team ministry
Position Type, Compensation, and Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time salaried position (exempt) based on a flexible 40 hours/week
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, or holidays as events dictate.
- Compensation and benefits are based on experience with a projected range between $40,000 – 45,000 annually.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience in a related field preferred.
- Ability to pass a general background security
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 &
- Valid driver’s license required for driving EUMC vehicles.
