Position Title: Minister of Youth (6th – 12th grade)

Position Type: Salary, Full time (40 hours a week)

Reports to: SPPRC / Lead Pastor

Overall Responsibility: To actively minister to, program for, and invite youth (6th – 12th graders) into a relationship with God.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Direct, plan, and execute all youth activities (Sunday School, Wednesday Night, Sunday night UMY, retreat/trips, etc), finding substitutes, as needed. 
  2. Create/Source curriculum and programming for all youth activities (as outlined above), finding support through volunteers, senior church leadership, and/or TWK conference resources, as needed.
  3. Recruit and maintain an active healthy adult volunteer pool to be utilized as substitute leaders and/or chaperones, when needed, ensuring all are Safe Sanctuary trained, keeping certifications renewed as determined by the TWK Conference.
  4. Find and communicate with church volunteers to provide meals for Sunday night UMY.
  5. Maintain a healthy and supportive relationship with students through both Christian guidance and community/school support.
  6. Provide students with Christian community through age-appropriate small groups.
  7. Plan and execute retreats, mission trips, and other various travel experiences, including but not limited to, a minimum of one (1) retreat per semester and one (1) trip during the summer (i.e. Mystery Trip, Mission Trip, etc.).
  8. Ensure smooth execution through facilitation and direction of specialty youth-related Sunday worship services, including but not limited to, Youth Sunday, Senior Sunday, and Senior Luncheon.
  9. Plan weekly activities for youth to participate in during the summer including a minimum of one 4-week Bible Study.
  10. Maintain a relationship with and champion Lakeshore Camp and Retreat Center.
  11. Participate in and attend meetings of various church committees as required by the SPPRC.
  12. Establish and maintain consistent, reliable communication with youth and their guardians about youth events, schedules, etc, including but not limited to, information in the church’s weekly newsletter, providing a monthly calendar of events, and facilitating Parent meetings (minimum of 1 per semester).
  13. Must be Safe Sanctuary trained and keep training certification renewed as determined by the TWK Conference.
  14. Additional duties and responsibilities within reason, as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Education Requirements

Minimum requirement: High school education with some secondary education

Preferred requirement: Undergraduate degree with a preference given to degrees in Biblical studies, Education, or Counseling

 

Physical Requirements 

Candidates must be in good physical health,have a valid driver’s license, and are required to pass a background check. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills, both in-person, through email and over phone.

 

Work Requirements

This is a full-time salaried position with work expectations primarily met Sunday through Thursday. Benefits package available based upon experience.
