The Board of Directors of the United Methodist Foundation for the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference and Development Fund of TN/KY, Inc. announces that the Reverend Dr. David O. Weatherly has been chosen to be the new President/CEO of the Foundation and Development Fund. Dr. Weatherly follows the Reverend Dr. Philip D. Jamieson, who has served in this role for the past eleven years.
The Board conducted a national search for the new president and chose Dr. Weatherly from a very qualified pool of applicants. David is an elder in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference and has been in ministry for over thirty years. He currently serves as District Superintendent for the Metro Memphis District/Southwest Tennessee area. David has a deep love and understanding of the state of our denomination, clergy, and local churches. David is quoted as saying, “The true honor is hearing and learning about the hopes and dreams of churches across the spectrum of United Methodism and seeking to discover how the Foundation can be of benefit.”
Anne Richards, Operations Manager at Paragon Bank and member of Emmanuel United Methodist in Memphis, chaired the search committee and the Foundation board. Mrs. Richards said, “As Chairperson of the Board of Directors I’m convinced that David Weatherly will add both an excitement for the continued leadership of ministry and a potential for growth within our faith communities at the United Methodist Foundation for the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference. David will carry forth the momentum built by Phil Jamieson through the ever-changing times we face in our ministries, utilizing his “caring of others” attitude and attention to details he uses in his daily walk.
