Antioch United Methodist Church is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as Music Director and accompanist. This is a part-time, salaried position with responsibilities in planning, coordinating and leading the music ministry for the congregation.

Responsibilities
The Music Director works closely with the pastor and worship team to plan and execute meaningful worship services.
• Plan and coordinate appropriate music for the Sunday worship service (10:30 a.m.) and other special services in collaboration with the pastor.
• Accompany the choir and worship band or other soloists or ensembles during worship services and weekly rehearsals.
• Direct and lead the choir and worship band in rehearsals.
• Work cooperatively with other music ministry volunteers and staff.
• Collaborate with the pastor to obtain new choral or instrumental music.

Qualifications
• Degree in music or equivalent accompanist experience.
• Proficient musical skills on the piano. Other musical instrument proficiency is a plus.
• Experience as a church pianist preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of church music.
• Ability to play up to four vocal parts and/or direct instrumentalists during rehearsal.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn United Methodist worship practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Background check required.

Hours and Compensation
Expected hours: 5-10 hours per week. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.
