Amy E. Steele, M.Div., Ph.D.

The Board of Directors of the Tennessee State University’s Wesley Foundation is pleased to announce the Rev. Amy E. Steele, Ph.D as Campus Minister effective December 1.

“Dr. Steele comes to us with an abundance of skills and enthusiasm,” says Dr. Bill Bowen, Board Chairman. “Our resident students are just as excited of her becoming our new director. Go Big Blue.”

Dr. Steele is a social ethicist, ordained minister, and certified spiritual director. She has over 20 years leading conversations and classes on religion and society, prayer, spiritual formation, Black religious history, women’s civil rights engagement, the works of Howard Thurman, and more. She deeply values listening, asking well-placed questions, honoring histories, and curating stories for soulful well-being. Most importantly she is the mother of one beautiful college-aged son. Dr. Amy enjoys writing, listening to good music, sharing a meal with family and friends, and the stillness of nature. She is a member of Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church.
