Did you know your church might be sitting on a pile of forgotten money? It’s true! Many churches may be eligible for unclaimed funds held by the state. These funds can include:
- Uncashed checks or refunds: From membership dues, donations, or other sources
- Dividends from forgotten stocks or bonds
- Life insurance benefits
- Security deposits
How to Check:
- Visit your state’s unclaimed property website: Tennessee’s site is https://unclaimedproperty.tn.gov/app/claim-search and Kentucky’s site is https://kyclaims.unclaimedproperty.com/en/Property/SearchIndex
- Search using your church’s name: Enter your church’s official name and any variations (e.g., include “First” or “United” if applicable).
- Review the results: If funds are found, follow the instructions on the website to claim them.
By taking a few minutes to check your state’s unclaimed property website, you could discover a valuable resource for your church.
