Submitted by Dr Vona Wilson, TWK Assistant to the Bishop

August 8, 2024 – Five pastors from the TWK participated in the 2024 School of Congregational Development in Chicago this week.  In one of the most diverse gatherings we’ve experienced, we shared time of learning, fellowship and worship. A clear focus on discipleship and listening to the communities where God has placed us to serve was a common thread throughout the week. The beloved community was in clear view!

Between us all (from 4 TWK districts and the Episcopal office), we attended workshops on Fresh Expressions, Funding strategies, Courageous Churches, Preaching, and more!

A key learning: prioritizing relationships  over everything else is essential. Jesus met people and engaged with them so they would experience the love and grace of God. We can too.
Faith & Innovation looks forward to seeing many more TWK people enjoying this gathering soon!

Meeting Dr. Michael Bowie was fun! He’s a great friend (and co-author) of Dr. Stephen Handy.  Have you read Dare to Shift? Let us recommend it!
