The Reverend Dr. Philip Jamieson, President of The United Methodist Foundation for the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference, announces that the recipients of the Cloyd Scholarship are Virginia Varden and Gerardo Amaya-Quinteros. Virginia is a member of Fulton First United Methodist Church and is currently enrolled at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. Gerardo is a member of Iglesia Metodista Unida Ebenezer. He is currently enrolled at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Tom and Betty Cloyd Scholarship Fund was created by Belle Meade United Methodist Church to honor the Cloyds’ ministries through the years. This fund was placed with the United Methodist Foundation for the Memphis and Tennessee Conferences for investing and distributing one or more scholarships each year. Mrs. Betty Cloyd continues to be consulted about possible recipients, and Virginia and Gerardo were the students chosen this year. Anyone wishing to honor the late Dr. Tom Cloyd or Mrs. Betty Cloyd may contribute to the Foundation (304 S. Perimeter Park Dr., Suite 3, Nashville, TN 37211) at any time with gifts being placed in the Scholarship Fund.
