Mission work is an integral part of how we as Christian disciples put our faith into action to love and serve God’s world. One of the strengths of our connectional ministry has historically been the mobilization of Christian disciples to serve the needs of the world.
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) is a grassroots movement designed to provide an official channel through which we can connect the skills and talents of Christian disciples to the needs for service in their home country and around the world through short-term missions.
The UMVIM network offers guidance, organization, and training to prepare congregations for impactful and transformative ministries, such as serving those in poverty, building churches and other mission facilities, assisting in disaster recovery efforts, participating in community health programs, and training new leaders.
As we seek to grow our VIM networks in the new Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference, we hope that you will take time to complete the linked survey to help our conference team to better connect our new conference in mission. We also hope that congregations will make plans to send a Missions leader to attend a VIM Team Leader Training which will take place Saturday, Aug. 13th, from 9am-12pm at First UMC- Murfreesboro (265 W Thompson Ln, Murfreesboro, TN 37129).
